Comment Competition to win an 8gb iPod Nano or another fantastic prize

To launch the Librarians' Blog for Dentistry we are running a competition to win an 8gb iPod Nano

iComment Competition to win an 8gb iPod Nano or another fantastic prize.
Open to all staff and students in the Dental School (a similar competition is taking place on the Librarians’ Blog for Medicine).

To enter simply comment here or against any of the blog entries. Comments should either respond to what is being said on the blog or could be about how well you think information literacy is supported in the Dental School or indeed about any aspect of the University of Sheffield Library service. Nothing offensive though ;-)

All comments made between now and the 30 Nov 2008 will be entered into a prize draw. There are no further rules other than there will be no jiggery pokery and the judge’s decision (ie my decision) is final! Thank you to Ovid, Proquest, Swets, and OUP for donating these very lovely prizes.

  1. If only I had an ipod to give away to get people's attention for the SUDSS website. I really think the only person who looks at it is me. Good luck.

  3. Okay here I am leaving a comment for this magical ipod :)
I'm sure I'm supposed to say something about what is being said on the blog or could be about how well you think information literacy is supported in the Dental School ...

and in that case, I think the video in the intro lecture was good :)

  4. Hi Ashley

I got sponsorship for these prizes so perhaps that is something for you to consider. I used to wonder how many people looked at the Library blogs and thought that perhaps we were just rambling away to ourselves but then I got some stats of the number of hits and was amazed. Good luck with the SUDSS site. I've added a link to it from this blog.

  9. Hi Dave

The blog is going to continue after the competition. We started with one for the Medical Students and that proved to be popular so we are now rolling them out to different departments. The DS one is new and we are in the process of building up the links so keep checking for updates :-)

    Vic

ooooo and I meant to say that I have passed your request for more PCs and a printer to the peeps in the DS. Don't forget that there are also two large IT Rooms in the Health Sciences Library at RHH and the fab facilities in the IC.

I think the computer facilities in the library are good for us dental therapists. However it would be great if we could have some more up to date textbooks aimed specifically at the work we do.

Win a Ipod ,A textbook or A memory stick(MS). well, I got MS, textbooks I dont read and Yes I do need a IPOD to sit in Info Comms to listen some good music to unwind all the stress I got from dental school. Well, not sure If I win or not, well Argos is there still to look for offers.

  17. Hi. I was wondering if there is going to be another computer suite in the dental school, as well as the computers in the new common room? Anna

  18. I have a little question, is it possible to maybe look at the books that are constantly out on loan and maybe get another load of them that can only be taken for 1 day ( but cannot be taken out again by the same person the very next day ) or just so there are more than 3 that cannot be taken out of the library ever? It would just allow students to still have access to it when needed but not keep to themselves so others are still able to get the information they need.

If not I've still managed to enter the competition. Good luck everyone!

  20. I have a smaller question, when mentioning late returns in the library lecture, there was a maximum penalty of £15 or so, does this mean we can technically borrow the book for 5 years and only incur a charge of £15? (providing no one else wants to borrow it after me)

  21. It's not just an i pod... it's a free, 8gb, small, ipod. wow.

  22. Kudos on the new IT suite... maybe a printer should be added?

  23. This is a really good page and I like the links to other useful pages, especially all the online journals. I like the new IT suite in the dental school but I agree that a printer is definitely missing.

  24. I heard in out year intro. lecture that the dean plans to put a printer in the IT suite eventually :)

  25. I second that thought Katharina! Although the new IT suite is great, I think it would be even better if it had a printer, scanner and maybe a top-up machine incase we run out of money on our U-cards. :)
