A good starting point for any literature search. Remember, use University Collections to find books and journal titles. For online journal articles use the Articles and More tab. If you're looking for a particular journal article make sure you check both our print and electronic holdings.

Always sign in before you start by clicking the University Members link and use the e-shelf to save what you find.

10 of the Best: 7# Information Skills Resource

This month on '10 of the Best' we’re looking at one of the Library’s top in-house resources – the Information Skills Resource. From here you can find all the latest online tutorials that the Library has designed to help you gain the information skills you need to complete your course successfully. 

So whether you need some help on searching databases like Medline, or you need to find materials for your assignments, or you’re confused about referencing, the Information Skills Resource will have something for you. 

Available from the Library tab in MUSE you can search for tutorials by department or check out the non-subject specific tutorials from the homepage. There’s also a set of tutorials designed specifically for researchers, with guidance on referencing, copyright and on how to produce a literature review.

History of Medicine

Hello to all our first year Medical students. 

You should be starting on your first assignment soon, exploring the 'History of Medicine', and as always the Library is here to help. If you came along to the Library's Induction lecture the other week you will have been given our new literature searching guide, full of top tips on how to find material for your essay. This was written especially to support the 'History of Medicine' assignment so if you didn't get one make sure you drop into the Library and pick one up. 

Remember as well that you can always visit the Skills Suite in the Information Commons where librarians are available to help you plan and carry out your search. Just call in or ask for directions at the Level 1 Information Desk.
