Easter and Bank Holiday Opening Hours

Over the Easter Vacation and May Bank Holidays, there will be some changes to the usual opening and staffed hours of the University Library Sites and the Information Commons.  For exceptions to the normal hours please see below, or find your site here.

Please note, reduced services will operate during Bank Holidays.

New Journal Subscriptions!

The University Library has acquired the following new journals from Cell Press;

  • Cell Stem Cell: a broad-spectrum journal that covers the entire spectrum of stem cell biology.
  • Cancer Cell: covers major advances in cancer research and oncology. Areas covered include molecular and cellular mechanisms of cancer, mechanisms for the sensitivity and the resistance to cancer therapies, and development of better cancer therapies.
  • Immunity: reports advances in immunology research. Topics covered include immune cell development and senescence, signal transduction, gene regulation, innate and adaptive immunity, autoimmunity, infectious disease, allergy and asthma, transplantation, and tumor immunology.
We've also got access to two new collections in JoVE, the world's first peer-reviewed scientific video journal; Developmental Biology and Science Education Database

The University Library subscribes to four different collections within Digimap, including:
  • Ordnance Survey Collectiom
  • Historic Digimap
Use these to look at the areas of Sheffield and also see how they have changed over the years.

New e-resource: Open Book Publishers

We've joined the Open Book Publishers' Library Membership Scheme.  Open Book Publishers publish peer-reviewed open access monographs in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

This scheme offers staff and students full access to various formatted digital edition.  You can access this resource from here.

You can also access this resource from StarPlus and individual titles are also searchable in StarPlus as part of the Directory of Open Access Books collection.
