New! Evaluating information and critical thinking tutorial

Are all sources of information equal? Can you believe everything you read on Wikipedia?  Are there cases where Twitter would tell you more than a textbook?

Learning to think critically about what you read, and how to choose the most appropriate information sources for your needs are some of the most important skills you'll learn at University.

We've created an new tutorial to help you ask the right questions about any information you find, to help ensure that your work is based on the best evidence available.

My Books - Books Chosen by You!

You said you wanted more books, and we listened!

The library has secured £50,000 to spend on extra copies and new titles for our students.
The scheme starts at 9am on Monday 2nd February.

From this time, any registered student can:

• order extra copies by logging into StarPlus and clicking on the ‘MY BOOKS – BOOKS CHOSEN BY YOU” button in the ‘Get It’ tab.

• order new titles by completing an online form which will go live at the start time, and can be accessed from www.sheffield.ac.uk/mybooks .

The money may go quickly, and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the expenditure.

We will buy the e-version of the title if available, so that as many students as possible can access the resource. For multi-edition titles; we will buy the latest available edition.
